1. Average length of the penis: The average length of penis when not erect is 3.5 inches. Similarly, average length when the penis is erect is 5.5 to 6.4 inches.
2. It has a mind of its own: It’s true that you have less command over your penis than body parts like your arms and legs.
That’s because the penis answers to a part of the nervous system that’s not always under your conscious control.
This is called the autonomic nervous system, which also regulates heart rate and blood pressure.
3. Time needed to regain an erection: The average amount of time needed for a man to regain erection ranges from 2 min to 2 week.
4. Average frequency of erections: The average number of erections per day for a man is 11. Similarly, the average number of erections per night is 9.
5. Stress is bad for your penis: Psychological stress also involves the sympathetic nervous system, and stress has the same effect as a cold shower.
6. Smoking can shorten your penis: Smoking can shorten your penis by as much as a centimeter.
Erections are all about good blood flow, and lighting up calcifies blood vessels, stifling erectile circulation.
7. Other factors that can affect your penis and erection: Many other factors can cause a temporary shrinkage of two inches or more, for instance cold weather or going swimming.
If this is the case, you need not worry if you happen to fall short of the average figure.
8. The erection & length connection: Among men, there is no consistent relationship between the size of the flaccid penis and its full erect length.
In one study of 80 men, researchers found that increases from flaccid to erect lengths ranged widely, from less than a quarter inch to 3.5 inches longer.
It means, you can’t assume that a man with a big limp penis gets much bigger with an erection. And the man whose penis looks tiny could surprise you with a big erection.
An analysis of more than thousand measurements taken by sex researcher Alfred Kinsey shows that shorter flaccid penises tend to gain about twice as much length as longer flaccid penises.
In other words, the man whose non-erect penis is smallish will usually achieve about a 100 per cent increase in length during sexual excitement. Similarly, the man whose non-erect penis is on the largish size will probably manage about a 75 per cent increase.
9. It has a Boomerang shape: In an MRI picture, the penis looks distinctly boomerang-like. Just like you don’t see all of a big oak tree above ground, you don’t see the root of your penis tucked up inside your pelvis and attached to your pubic bone.
10. Can you break your penis? While there is no “penis bone,” you can still break your penis all the same. It’s called penile fracture, and it’s not a subtle injury.
When it happens, there is an audible pop or snap.
Then the penis turns black and blue and there’s terrible pain.
Penile fracture is rare, and it typically happens to younger men because their erections tend to be quite rigid.
However, you can avoid penile fracture by not using your penis too roughly.
